Tulsa Time?

Scottie Haralson insists he's not sure if he'll transfer from UConn, but after talking to him by phone earlier today, it seems the sophomore-to-be is strongly leaning that way.

Haralson, a shooting guard who saw precious little playing time as a freshman this past season, will be making a visit to the University of Tulsa on Friday.

He is currently back home in Jackson, Miss., taking a course at nearby Hinds Community College and contemplating his college hoops future. He noted that his role on the team and potential playing time next season will be the determining factor as to whether or not he'll return to Storrs.

"(The UConn coaching staff) said (my playing time is) going to be the same amount as last season, as of now, and it will be real difficult to get some playing time if you stay here," Haralson said. "That's why I put a transfer into consideration."

Billed as a sharpshooter out of Provine High School in Jackson, Haralson shot just 7-for-26 (28.6 percent) from 3-point land last season. He played in 17 of the Huskies' 36 games, averaging just 4.1 minutes of playing time.

Haralson had logged just six minutes of Big East action until getting his first significant run on Feb. 25 at Marquette, canning a pair of 3-pointers and scoring six points in eight minutes in a 93-82 UConn win. But Haralson never managed to truly find his way into UConn's regular rotation.

"I wouldn't say I was disappointed, but I wanted to play more," he said. "But everybody wants to play. I fit in well with the guys, we bonded. I learned a lot in my one year and I got better, so I was more happy with that, learning the system and getting to know everyone."

Tulsa, which didn't recruit him in high school, is Haralson's only scheduled visit as of now. He said that Houston, North Texas, New Orleans, Alabama, Mississippi State and Southern Mississippi have also shown interest, with the help of UConn's coaching staff.
