Blaney named associate head coach

The University of Connecticut announced Tuesday morning that George Blaney has been named men's basketball associate head coach, filling the position left by Tom Moore in March.

Blaney has been a member of the Huskies staff since 2001 and a friend of head coach Jim Calhoun for four decades. The 67-year-old Blaney coached at Dartmouth, Holy Cross and Seton Hall on the Division I level and was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
