Somehow, I can't envision Jim Calhoun following this trend:
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College men’s basketball coach Keno Davis has opened up a Twitter account to keep Friar fans updated on the most recent activity in the men’s basketball program. Fans can check out Davis’ Twitter page at http://twitter.com/CoachKenoDavis.
“After spending the last year in Providence, I believe we have some of the most loyal fans in college basketball,” Davis said. “I want to give our fans access to our program and keep them informed. There are always a lot of exciting things going on with our basketball program and I hope this technology is a useful tool for sharing the news with our fans.”
Twitter, a free social networking and micro-blogging service available at twitter.com, allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (also known as “tweets”). Fans can receive updates on the Keno Davis official Twitter page, on their mobile phone, via instant messaging or through e-mail. In addition, the Keno Davis Twitter page can be added to blogs or other social networking sites.
Fans do not need to sign up for Twitter to access the site, but to receive automatic updates, fans will need to create a Twitter account. To create a free account, simply click on the button in the upper-right corner of the page that reads, “Join Today!”
