Elite Players to Attend Calhoun's Camp

Jim Calhoun's second annual elite basketball camp will run at Gampel Pavilion this Sunday and Monday, Aug. 3-4. Here's a partial list of some of the top-notch recruits expected to attend:

Class of 2009
Alex Oriakhi, 6-8, 225, PF, Tilton (N.H.) School. Committed to UConn following sophomore year. Has really blown up this summer, with strong performance at the LeBron James Skills Academy.

Jamaal Coombs, 6-6, SF, Tilton (N.H.) School. Also committed to UConn following sophomore year and a teammate of Oriakhi's at Tilton.

Daniel Orton, 6-9, 260, C, Bishop McGuinness High, Oklahoma City. Top-notch defensive center who has been offered by Kansas, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

Gerard Coleman, 6-3, 165, SG, Tilton (N.H.) School. Teammate of Oriakhi and Coombs at Tilton, has expressed interest in NC State.

Patrick Young, 6-9, C, Jacksonville, Fla. Top recruit and great student, boasting ab 4.0 GPA.

Class of 2010

Phil Pressey, 5-8, 140, PG, Cushing Academy, Ashburnham, MA. Son of former Milwaukee Buck Paul Pressey, has been offered by Georgia, Maryland and Missouri.

Brandon Knight, 6-3, 175, PG/SG, Pine Crest School, Fort Lauderdale. Top-ranked point guard in class, per scout.com. Made unofficial visit to UConn in January, and is coached at Pine Crest by New Haven native David Beckerman.

It's also possible that Jordan Hamilton, the 6-7, 210-pound forward out of Compton, CA who is scout.com's No. 2-rated small forward for the Class of 2009, could attend. If not, he may make an unofficial visit to Storrs on Aug. 24.
